The ‘Need to Know’ Details for Legacy 2022

So we’ve been talking about things like entrepreneurship, networking, marketing and productivity for a while now, but why? Well, we wanted to get you into the mindset for Legacy 2022!

What will happen at Legacy 2022? What should you expect? Keep reading and we’ll give you all the details you need to know to prepare yourself for the big day.

What Happens on the Day of the Event

During the day there are so many things that occur at The Legacy Conference. The main events are the keynote speakers and guest speakers. They take up the majority of the day. In the past, we’ve had Seth Godin, Simon Sinek, Sal Khan, Mike Smith and Michael Seibel speak at our conference.

During the networking sessions, attendees can interact with all the partners and sponsors participating at the conference. All sponsors and partners are open and ready to answer any questions you have. You’re able to make connections that benefit the both of you, such as interviews or job positions. Some sponsors in the past have been Deloitte, Red Bull, Momentum Law, and CPA Canada.

Workshops are also very interactive. They are usually held by our sponsors, and by partners as well. These interactive workshops are intended for our attendees to learn a new skill or perfect a current one. Workshops in the past have been held by people from companies like Google and Apple.

Mentorship sessions are one-on-one conversations with full-time entrepreneurs. They are intended for you to ask all your founder-related questions and to perhaps gain a mentor for the long term.

Why Us?

You might be thinking, ‘well okay, how does Legacy differ from other entrepreneurship conferences’?

Well you’re in for a surprise. We are Canada’s largest student-run entrepreneurship conference. That means we (students) create this event FOR students. Not for anyone else. We want to create an experience that we would love to attend.

It’s so much more advantageous that we as students run this conference because we know what we would want in a conference, and so that’s what we make happen. The informal yet energetic vibe is what we go for, and it works every time.

Another advantage to a student-run event is that we know what kind of financial situation you’re in. You’re probably not willing to drop $500 on a big conference because, let’s face it, you’re a broke student. That’s why we have very affordable ticket prices, while still having top quality speakers.

Lastly, the reason we get such great speakers is because they know the situation we’re all in. They've been in our exact position before, and they want to help us get through it. If people see a good cause, they love to help.

Creating Lasting Connections

One of the best parts about Legacy is that you can be brought into the same room as so many successful people. With top speakers, companies and mentors in one room, it really would be a waste if you didn’t make the most out of it.

Find that one person that interests you the most! It doesn’t matter if they’re not the most popular speaker at the conference. Finding someone you resonate with can lead to you making a long lasting connection with them.

I firmly believe that I can learn something from everyone I meet. I love the quote, ‘every man I meet is in some way my superior and in that I learn from him’. I am always looking out for things that I can learn from others, whether it is how they manage their life, how they run their business, or how they interact with others. In seeking a mentor, don’t look for the person who will take you under their wing and put you on the right path. Instead, learn from everyone you meet and from every experience, and then knit all of those things together in a unique way to create your own life path.
